Challenges In The News 07/16/08

The Beacon to the Future Library campaign is hoping someone in the Concho Valley is willing to rise to a challenge.

These challenges I have learned finally to accept, adapt, and appreciate.

Aries (March 21 – April 19) – 060808 – In the manner of a gifted artisan taking on a wacky, creative challenge, you manage to pull together the disparate resources offered to you and make them work.

Al Franken won a resounding endorsement for the U.S. Senate on Saturday from Minnesota Democrats, quickly addressing concerns about jokes that offend some people and promising a tough challenge to Republican Sen. Norm Coleman.

Comments from women who waiting in sweltering heat to hear the former first lady – some of whom wept – made it clear that Obama still had a challenge ahead in rallying Clinton’s supporters.

Those are the only two games that he was even challenged.

Safina (at French Open Women’s Final) stepping in to challenge that second serve.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20) – 060708 – High standards are a part of your everyday life. Can you refrain from imposing yours on others? It’s challenging but doable. Someone close to you needs more tenderness than scrutiny.

Feinstein, who turns 75 this month, is 14 years older than Clinton. Both identify with the first generation of women who challenged barriers in politics and elsewhere.

If a candidate’s faith is sincere and mature, it naturally informs his or her political agenda. In truth, the profoundly important issues of our day – economic and social justice, war, immigration, health care, the environment – are every bit as spiritual as they are political. The emphasis on religion is helpful so far as it is ultimately about the candidates’ ability to grapple with and respond to these challenges.

It is one of the challenges of watching tennis on TV.
